Mission Statement

The mission of the Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department is to provide protection of life, property, and the environment from the effects of fires, medical emergencies, and hazards. We engage the community in our mission through progressive community outreach. We will maintain a constant state of readiness to respond to all requests for services through training, maintenance of equipment, and a desire to serve our community.

We try to meet the high standards we set for ourselves as we aspire to the following core values:

  • Professionalism– We display the highest standards in action, appearance, and attitude at all times.
  • Integrity– We ensure honesty and fairness in all we do.
  • Compassion– We show kindness and empathy to everyone we encounter.
  • Responsibility & Accountability– We are professionally, personally, and fiscally accountable and responsible for ourselves and our colleagues’ actions.
  • Respect– We have deep admiration for fellow members of CVFD, all the residents of Cornwall, and everyone we encounter through our work.
  • Diversity– We are open-minded and responsive to the needs of our community without regard to age, gender, religion, or ethnic origin.
  • Commitment– We are dedicated to achieving Departmental goals and objectives.
  • Teamwork– We work together with a cooperative attitude towards common goals.
  • Health and Safety – We hold as paramount the personal health and safety of our Members and our community as we fulfill the missions of CVFD.
